I don’t like how the font scales down, or how it scales up. If I saw someone with handwriting like this, I’d think it was awesome. But this isn’t handwriting, it’s a typeface, and it just doesn’t work for me.

I have a good friend named Lauren, and I suppose if I ever had to make a poster for her, I’d look to this font first! I’d love to have a font named after me. “Kara” would be bold and stylish, would definitely not have extraneous serifs, and the K would have something cool and clever to differentiate it from all the other letters.

Another good name for this would have been “Nails on a chalkboard.” Imagine the pitted black surface of a chalkboard and clouds of white dust. That’s what this font makes me think of. The letters are built a bit wide for my liking, but I think the concept works well.

Look at the whimsical swirls on the G, J, t, 2 and 5! You think you’re dealing with a regular serif, then BAM, the font throws you a whirl. It plays with angles and curves and really is quite lovely.

This is an all-caps font that doesn’t annoy me. It has a 1930s feel to it, yet also looks modern to me. I love the curvy, understated “S” and the laidback “J.”

This cartoonish font would find a great home in web graphic buttons or nametags. I also think it would make a great font for a company logo – a fun, cool company, not an boring, stodgy one.

It looks like it has a base in an individual’s handwriting, but it’s definitely made as a typeface. I find the upper and lower case “Ks” particularly engaging. I have two Ks in my name, and that’s the letter I generally look at first.

This isn’t a highly readable font, but I could see some good uses for it as an accent for posters or billboards. On a computer screen, it just doesn’t work that well. The font doesn’t include numbers, which is a drawback as well. The inspiration behind it though – in full color and texture – is amazing. See Chank Fonts for more.

It’s edgy and unpredictable, just like the name implies. I could imagine this being scratched into the wood of a desk by a disillusioned, pretentious teenage girl who write angsty-poetry while in detention.

I love this font because of its simplicity and symmetry, and how some of the letters just jump out of their space – like the lowercase t and the uppercase G, giving a happy surprise as you read through the text. Coolvetica takes Helvetica and smacks it around a bit, strictly following the rules of a sans serif font, and expresses clean rounded curves that really give the font some elegance.
